Update the from 8.16.1 to 8.17 version
If you have previously installed the 8.16 version from the ServiceNow store, you can update it to 8.17 version in your instance.
- You must be the system administrator in ServiceNow.
- You must deactivate the following scheduled jobs:
- vRA Import Project
- vRA Import Catalog
- vRA Import Resources and CMDB
- vRA Delete Queue
- vRA Reconcile Actions
- Theuser criteria scoped API plug-inmust be installed. For details, see Install the user criteria scoped API plug-in.
- A data source choice list must be created. See Create a Data Source Choice in ServiceNow.
- You must set theReplace on upgradeflag asTruefor the table records having customizations by following the below steps:
- In the filter Navigator, type thesys_update_xml.LISTtable name and press Enter.
- On theCustomer Updatespage, click the gear icon. ThePersonalize List Columnswindow will display.
- Under theAvailablecolumn list, add the following to theSelectedcolumn and clickOK.

- In theApplicationcolumn, search forVMware Aria Automation Plug-in. The number of table records will be listed.
- Place the pointer on theType, and clickvertical ellipsis>Group By Type. A list of records will be listed based on Type.
- Expand theSystem Propertyand set theReplace on upgradetoTruefor all the system properties.
- You must set the “Replace on upgrade” asTruefor any table records that contain customizations.
- For more information on overwriting your customizations, see Overwrite customizations during an upgrade.
- If you have skipped updating the “Replace on upgrade” flag for table records having customizations before upgrading, then the records will fall into Skipped and Skipped Manual Merge. For more information, see Troubleshoot.
- Log in to ServiceNow as a system administrator.
- In the left pane, clickSystem Applications>All Available Applications>All.
- Search for.
- Select the latest release version and clickUpdate.
- Select theLoad Demo Datacheckbox and clickUpdate. The current version will be updated to latest release version.
- Make sure that all the scheduled jobs are in the Inactive state.
- Provide the required access for the question choice table. See Enable Application Access.
- Navigate toManage Endpointsand open each registered endpoint.
- Click theValidate and Savebutton.
- Run the scheduled jobs:
- In the left pane, clickVMware Aria Automation>Job Schedules.
- Activate all the scheduled jobs that were deactivated initially.
- Run theImport Projectfirst then run theImport Catalogschedule job.
- Run theImport Resources and CMDBschedule job.
