Viewing All Applications

The
Applications
page provides an end-to-end visibility of applications in
VMware Aria Operations for Networks
.
To access the
Applications
page, from the navigation pane, go to
Applications
.
On this page, you can:
  • View the overall health of applications.
  • View applications categorized by different alerts
  • Start one or more troubleshooting incidents
  • Click the
    Discover
    button to perform application discovery
  • Click the
    Add
    button to add applications manually.
This page has two tabs:
The Dashboard tab of the All Applications page displaying information such as health summary and application changes.

Dashboard Tab

The dashboard tab provides a complete overview of applications in
VMware Aria Operations for Networks
. The following table describes different elements of the tab:
Elements
Description
Applications Health Summary
Shows applications grouped by alerts, security, failed intents, and troubleshooting incidents. To learn more or troubleshoot issues, click the actionable information within the widget.
Application Changes
Shows applications modified in the last 24 hours. You can:
  • Click the number associated with
    Newly Discovered
    to view and save newly discovered applications.
  • Click the number associated with
    Membership Updates
    to view and update applications having membership changes.
Application Distribution
Shows applications grouped by on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. You can expand each section to view details such as failed intents and unprotected flows.
Top 25 Applications
Displays the top 25 applications based on:
  • Critical problems
  • Outgoing traffic
  • Incoming traffic
  • Failed intents
  • Retransmission rate
  • Round trip time
  • Traffic from internet
  • Traffic to internet
You can click an application to open the respective application page.
If you are viewing the top 25 applications based on critical problems, or intent violations, you can click the
Troubleshoot
button next to the application to start a troubleshooting incident.

List Tab

The list tab displays applications in a table and a map view.

The map and the tabular view are interactive. If you click an application in the tabular view, the hexagon representing the application gets highlighted or focused on the map view, displaying shared services and network connections with other applications.

Table
The tabular view displays details such as application name, count of members, count of tiers and updated at.
You can do the following:
  • Hover the mouse on the value in the
    Members
    column to see the individual count of VMs, physical IPs, and services.
  • Click an application to open the respective application page and view the details of that application.
    To learn more, see Viewing Application Details.
  • Update all applications by clicking the
    Update All
    button on top of the table view.
  • Edit or delete an application by clicking respective icons next to the application.
  • Select one or more applications to delete or export in the
    .csv
    format.
  • Update applications individually by clicking the
    Update Available
    button next to the application.

Map
On the map view, you can:
  • Hover over a hexagon to see application details such as name, discovered VM count, and the tier count.
  • On hover, click
    View Details
    to open the respective application page.
  • Zoom in or zoom out of map by clicking the (+) or the (-) button.
  • View applications with unprotected flows and problems.
  • View applications talking to the internet.
  • View applications using shared services.
  • Click the lines connecting an application to the internet to view flow details such as:
    • Count of source and destination flows
    • Count of unprotected source flows
    • Count of unprotected destination flows
If there are no flows or members associated with the application, a question mark is displayed on the hexagon.
