Create an Application Manually

You can manually create an application in the
VMware Aria Operations for Networks
user interface.
  1. On the left navigation pane, click
    Applications
    Add Applications
    Add Manually
    .
  2. In the
    Application Name
text box, enter a name for the application you want to create.
  3. In the
    Tier/Deployment
    section, enter a unique name.
  4. In the
    Member
    field, perform the following steps:
    1. Select a condition from the drop-down menu to create a tier.
You can define a condition based on any of the following properties:
      • VM properties
      • Location of VMs (application, cluster, folders).
      • Kubernetes services (service name, cluster IP address, namespace, cluster IP, or service labels).
To learn more about the supported properties while defining a condition, see List of Supported Properties.
To create tiers for the physical IPs based on enriched DNS, Subnet, or VLAN, see Creating Tiers for Physical IPs.
To search a specific Kubernetes service that has the same name, same IP, or the same tag in multiple clusters, use custom search.
    2. Enter or select the value that you want to add to the tier.
For entering multiple values, use comma after individual values.
  5. To add another condition, click
    Add another Condition
    .
  6. To create another tier under an application, click
    Add Tier/Deployment
    .
You can create multiple tiers for an application.
The application creates the tiers and shows the count of VMs, physical IPs, and Kubernetes services matching the conditions.
  7. To receive alerts on intent violations, select the
Enable Application Aware Network Health Intents
    check box.
The system monitors the network health of the application and generates alerts if the application health intents are violated.
  8. To preview the flow analysis, on the
    Preview Micro-Segments
    widget, click
    Update view
    .
You see the micro-segment view for the application.
  9. Click
    Save
    .
You can see the application listed on the
All Applications
page. To learn more, see Viewing All Applications.
