Working with solution templates in
VMware Cloud Director extension for Data Solutions

Solution templates are predefined resource configurations that tenant users can select when deploying solution instances.
VMware Cloud Director extension for Data Solutions
 uses the solution templates to allocate the resources that you define, to the solution instance.
After you upgrade to
VMware Cloud Director extension for Data Solutions
 1.4, new versions of solution templates, for example,
Confluent Platform
 - Standard 0.8.240 are not automatically available to tenants. You must publish them. See Publish or unpublish a solution template.
Also, old versions of solution templates will no longer be available in the tenant portal's solution deployment wizard. For example, if you publish
Confluent Platform
 - Standard 0.8.240 and
Confluent Platform
 - Standard 0.8.233 to a tenant organization, and the solution version is
Confluent Platform
 0.8.240, the tenant only sees
Confluent Platform
 - Standard 0.8.240 in the solution deployment wizard.

Modify a built-in solution template

Built-in solution templates in
VMware Cloud Director extension for Data Solutions
 are predefined templates that cannot be directly deleted or edited.
To modify a built-in solution template, you must first clone it and then you can edit the clone.
  1. Log in to
    VMware Cloud Director extension for Data Solutions
     from
    VMware Cloud Director
    .
  2. Click
    Templates
     and navigate to the solution template that you want to modify.
  3. Click
    Actions
    Clone
    .
  4. Edit the template details and click
    Save
    .

Edit a solution template

You can edit only cloned
VMware Cloud Director extension for Data Solutions
 solution templates.
  1. Log in to
    VMware Cloud Director extension for Data Solutions
     from
    VMware Cloud Director
    .
  2. Click
    Templates
     and navigate to the solution template that you want to edit.
  3. Click
    Actions
    Edit
    .
  4. Edit the template details and click
    Save
    .

Publish or unpublish a solution template

In
VMware Cloud Director extension for Data Solutions
, you can publish or unpublish a solution template to a specific organization or organizations.
  1. Log in to
    VMware Cloud Director extension for Data Solutions
     from
    VMware Cloud Director
    .
  2. Click
    Templates
     and navigate to the solution template that you want to publish or unpublish.
  3. Click
    Actions
    Publish
     or
    Unpublish
    .
  4. Select the organizations for which you want to publish or unpublish the selected template and click
    Publish
     or
    Unpublish
    .

Set featured solution templates

When a tenant user deploys a solution instance, only the featured templates are visible.
  1. Log in to
    VMware Cloud Director extension for Data Solutions
     from
    VMware Cloud Director
    .
  2. Click
    Templates
     and navigate to the solution template that you want to set as featured.
  3. Click
    Actions
    Set Featured
    .
    You can have multiple featured templates.
