Install Citrix VDA on Remote Desktop Session Host Server

This section provides step-by-step instructions about installing VDA on the Remote Desktop Session Host (RDSH) server for multi-session Windows operating systems.
  • Create a virtual machine and install the Windows Server operating system.
  • Ensure that the virtual machine is on
    sddc-cgw-citrix-desktops
    network with DHCP, and domain assigned to the network.
  1. Mount the
    Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops
    ISO,
    AutoSelect
    file.
  2. Click
    Start
    corresponding to
    Virtual Apps and Desktops
    .
  3. On the upper-right corner of the page, select
    Virtual Delivery Agent for Windows Multi-session OS
    .
  4. On the
    Environment
    page, select
    Create a master MCS image
    or
    Create a master image using Citrix Provisioning or third-party provisioning tools
    and click
    Next
    .
  5. On the
    Core Components
    page, clear the
    Citrix Workspace App
    check box and click
    Next
    .
    The Workspace App is required for Double-Hop ICA Connections.
  6. On the
    Additional Components for Master MCS Image
    page, select the following default components for the Machine Creation Services (MCS) from the golden image and click
    Next
    .
    • Citrix Supportability Tools
    • Citrix Profile Management
    • Citrix Profile Management WMI plug-in
    • MCS storage optimization
      MCS storage optimization is used for Citrix provisioning and is also known as MCS I/O. It is recommended to select this component to minimize performance issues.
  7. On the
    Delivery Controller
    Page, do the following:
    1. Select
      Do it manually
      .
    2. Enter the FQDN of each Delivery Controller.
    3. Click
      Test Connection
      and then click
      Add
      .
    4. Click
      Next
      .
  8. On the
    Feature
    page, select the required features and click
    Next
    .
    The feature,
    Use Windows Remote Assistance
    is applicable for
    Citrix Director
    .
  9. On the
    Firewall
    page, under
    Configure firewall rules
    , select
    Automatically
    and click
    Next
    .
  10. On the
    Summary
    Page, do the following:
    1. Review the list of components that will be installed.
    2. Select
      Enable restore on failure
      and then click
      Install
      .
    Your computer reboots multiple times to complete the installation.
  11. (Optional) on the
    Diagnostics
    page, select
    Collect Diagnostic Information
    if you want to enable the Citrix Call Home feature and then click
    Next
    .
  12. Click
    Finish
    to restart the system to complete the installation.
