To start protecting virtual machines, you must configure the to connect to a
vCenter
Server
instance
on both the protected and the recovery sites. Verify that the is deployed and powered on.
- Log in to the Management Interface as admin.
- Click theSummarytab and clickConfigure appliance.
- On thePlatform Services Controllerpage, enter the information about the site where you deployed the .Menu ItemDescriptionAddressEnter the host name (in lowercase letters) or IP address of thePlatform Services Controllerfor thevCenter Serverwith which to register .PSC portAccept the default value of443or enter a new value ifPlatform Services Controlleruses a different port.Platform Services Controlleronly supports connections over HTTPS.User nameEnter the user name for the domain to which thisPlatform Services Controllerinstance belongs. This user account must be a member of the administrator group on thePlatform Services Controllerinstance.PasswordThe password for the specified user name.
- If prompted, clickConnectto verify thePlatform Services Controllercertificate.
- On thevCenter Serverpage, select thevCenter Serverinstance with which to register the , and clickNext.The drop-down menu includes all thevCenter Serverinstances that are registered with thePlatform Services Controller. In an environment that uses Enhanced Linked Mode, it might also includevCenter Serverinstances from otherPlatform Services Controllerinstances. Make sure that you select the correctvCenter Serverinstance. After you configure the , you cannot select a differentvCenter Serverinstance.
- On theName and Extensionpage, enter the necessary information to register the withvCenter Server, and select the default extension identifier, or create a custom extension identifier.
- Еnter the site name, administrator email address, and local host IP address or name.Menu ItemDescriptionLocal site nameA name for this site, which appears in the interface. ThevCenter Serveraddress is used by default. Use a different name for each instance in the pair.Administrator emailThe email address of the administrator. This information is required even though you use the standardvCenter Serveralarms to configure email notifications for events.Local hostThe name or IP address of the local host. Only change the value if the IP address is not the one that you want to use. For example, the local host might have more than one network interface, and the one that the detects is not the interface that you want to use.To facilitate IP address changes in your infrastructure, provide a fully qualified domain name (FQDN) whenever possible, rather than an IP address.
- Select the default extension identifier, or create a custom extension ID for this pair, and clickNext.Both instances in a site pair must use the same extension ID.Menu ItemDescriptionDefault extension IDUse this option when you deploy in a standard configuration with one protected site and one recovery site.Custom extension IDUse this option when you deploy in a shared recovery site configuration, with multiple protected sites and one recovery site.Enter the details for the custom extension ID.
- Extension ID. A unique identifier. Assign the same identifier to the instances on the protected site and the shared recovery site.
- Organization. The name of the organization to which this sites pair belongs. This name helps to identify pairs in a shared recovery site configuration, especially when multiple organizations use the shared recovery site.
- Description. An optional description of the pair.
- On theReady to Completepage, review your settings and clickFinish.
