Enable Hot Keys for Virtual Machines

If you have
Fusion Pro
, you can create a keyboard shortcut to define a hot key combination to launch a virtual machine.
  • The hot key combination must contain at least one key modifier, such as Control or Command, plus another modifier.
  • A hot key combination must be unique to one virtual machine.
  • The hot key cannot be a function or a specially defined key such as Return, Escape, Insert, Delete, Home, End, Page Up, Page Down, F key, Print Screen, Scroll Lock, Pause, or the arrow keys.
  • You cannot assign a hot key combination to an application.
  • You cannot use the Tab key as a hot key.

    VMware Fusion
    Preferences
    .
  2. Select the
    Enable per-virtual machine keyboard shortcuts
    check box.
  3. Select
    Window
    Virtual Machine Library
    .
  4. Select a virtual machine in the
    Virtual Machine Library
    window and click
    Settings
    .
  5. Under System Settings in the
    Settings
    window, click
    Keyboard & Mouse
    .
  6. Type the keyboard shortcut to use to trigger the virtual machine.
