Creating a Microsoft
Windows Virtual Machine
You can create a
virtual machine that uses a Microsoft Windows operating system as its guest
operating system.
Fusion
creates
your virtual machine, selects the default Windows installation options, and
installs VMware Tools, which loads the drivers required to optimize your
virtual machine's performance.
You can also allow Windows Easy
Install to make your home folder available to Windows as a shared folder. This
feature provides you with options, such as sharing files between the virtual
machine and your Mac.
Windows Easy Install is
available for the following Windows operating systems:
- Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP
- Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2003, and Windows 2000 Server
You must provide the
operating system software and its product key.
Fusion
does not
include any operating system or license.
If you are not using one of
these Windows operating systems in your virtual machine, or if you are using
Windows but want to install the operating system manually, you can use the
procedure for creating a virtual machine for any supported operating system.
