Compose a
Server
You can compose one or more servers by selecting the compute,
network, and storage resources.
- The translation layer must have been configured.
- The composed server must meet the minimum hardware requirements. See thePlanning and Preparation Workbook.
- In the navigation pane, click.
- From the Available Resources table, select the zone where you want to compose a server. A zone corresponds to a physical boundary.
- ClickCompose.
- In the Allocate Resources dialog box, select the compute for the server.
- Select the storage.
- Select the network interface.The Choose number of servers section displays the number of servers you can compose based on the selected resources.
- Select the number of servers you want to compose.
- ClickNext.
- On the Review page, review the allocated resources to the servers.ClickBackto make any changes.
- ClickCompose.
The compose server task is displayed in the Tasks table at the bottom
of the Composable Infrastructure page. Click the name of the task for more
information. When the server is composed, it is added to the Server Composition
Summary table.
If
VMware Cloud Foundation
does
not receive a response from Redfish due to an external error, an error message
is displayed. The hardware resources in the compose request are locked and
cannot be used. You must free up these resources using the vendor UI. For more
information, refer to the vendor documentation.
