Connect Additional VMware Cloud Foundation
Instances to Cross-Instance Tier-0 Gateway
You turn the standard tier-0 gateway into a cross-instance tier-0 gateway by connecting
additional
VMware
Cloud Foundation
instances to it. You configure uplink interfaces, BGP, and route redistribution for the
additional instances.- In a web browser, log in to Global Manager cluster at https://active_gm_vip_fqdn/.
- Add the additional instance as a location on the tier-0 gateway.
- On the NSX Manager main navigation bar, clickNetworking.
- In the navigation pane, selectTier-0 Gateways.
- On the Tier-0 Gateway page, click the vertical eclipses for thecross-instance_tier0gateway and clickEdit.
- ClickAdd Locationand enter the required information.SettingValueLocationSelect the location name of the instance being added.Edge ClusterSelect the Edge cluster name of the instance being added.
- ClickSave.
- Set interfaces for the instance on the tier-0 gateway.
- ExpandInterfacesand clickSet.
- ClickAdd interface.
- Enter a name for the interface and select the instance location.
- Set the type toExternaland enter the IP address for the interface.
- Select the segment that the interface is connected to and the Edge node corresponding to the instance.
- Set the MTU to 9000.
- Repeat these steps to add three additional interfaces.
- Configure BGP neighbors.
- Expand BGP and under BGP Neighbors, clickSet.You can enable BFD if the network supports it and is configured for BFD.
- ClickAdd BGP neighbor
- Enter the IP address for the neighbor and select the instance location.
- Enter the remote AS and source addresses for the neighbor.
- ClickTimers & Passwordand set theHold Down Timeto 12 andKeep Alive Timeto 4.
- Enter the BGP neighbor password, clickSave, and then clickClose.
- Repeat these steps to add another BGP neighbor.
- Configure Route Re-Distribution
- Expand Route Re-Distribution and next to the location you are adding, clickSet.
- In the Set Route Re-distribution dialog box, clickAdd Route-Redistribution.
- Enterdefaultas name and, under Route re-distribution, clickSet.
- In the Set route redistribution dialog box, select all listed sources and clickApply.
- ClickAddto finish editing the default route redistribution and clickApply.
- ClickSave
- ClickClose editing.
