Change Storage Provider Settings
For array-based replication, the SAN provider is the interface between
Site
Recovery Manager
and your storage replication adapter (SRA). Some SRAs require you to change default SAN provider values. You can change the default timeout values and other behaviors of the Site
Recovery Manager
SAN provider. You can change settings for resignaturing, fixing datastore names, host rescan counts, and timeouts in seconds. For more information about these values, see the SRA documentation from your array vendor.
- In thevSphere Client, click .
- On theSite Recoveryhome tab, select a site pair, and clickView Details.
- In the left pane, click.
- Select a site, and clickEditto modify the storage provider settings.OptionActionMakeSite Recovery Managerattempt to detach and reattach LUNs with duplicate volumes. The default value is true.Move the slider to change the value ofstorageProvider.autoDetachLUNsWithDuplicateVolume.Set theLVM.EnableResignatureflag onESXihosts during test and recovery. The default value is 0.In thestorageProvider.autoResignatureModetext box, enter0to deactivate,1to enable, or2to ignore the flag. The default setting is 0. If you set this flag to 1,Site Recovery Managerresignatures all known VMFS snapshot volumes, including any volumes thatSite Recovery Managerdoes not manage. If you leave the flag set to 0,Site Recovery Manageronly resignatures the VMFS snapshot volumes that it manages.Change the timeout in seconds to wait for Batch Attach LUN operation to complete on eachESXihost. The default value is 3600 seconds.Enter a value in thestorageProvider.batchAttachTimeoutSectext box.Change the timeout in seconds to wait for Batch Detach LUN operation to complete on eachESXihost. The default value is 3600 seconds.Enter a value in thestorageProvider.batchDetachTimeoutSectext box.Change the interval thatSite Recovery Managerwaits for VMFS volumes to be mounted. The default value is 3600 seconds.Enter a new value in thestorageProvider.batchMountTimeoutSectext box. Change this value if you experience timeouts caused bySite Recovery Managerchecking for VMFS volumes that take a long time to mount. This setting is available inSite Recovery Manager5.5.1 and later.Change the interval thatSite Recovery Managerwaits for VMFS volumes to be unmounted. The default value is 3600 seconds.Enter a new value in thestorageProvider.batchUnmountTimeoutSectext box. Change this value if you experience timeouts caused bySite Recovery Managerchecking for VMFS volumes that take a long time to unmount. This setting is available inSite Recovery Manager5.5.1 and later.Set number of retries for batch unmount of VMFS/NFS volumes. The default is 3 tries.Enter a new value in thestorageProvider.datastoreUnmountRetryCounttext box.Change the interval thatSite Recovery Managerwaits before attempting to unmount the datastore. The default is 1 second.Enter a new value in thestorageProvider.datastoreUnmountRetryDelaySectext box.Change the time in seconds to wait before fetching datastores on theESXihosts after receiving an SRA response during test and recovery. This setting applies only when there are no SCSI devices. The default value is 0.Enter a new value in thestorageProvider.fetchDatastoreDelaySectext box.Force removal, upon successful completion of a recovery, of thesnap-prefix applied to recovered datastore names. The default value is false.xxMove the slider to change the value ofstorageProvider.fixRecoveredDatastoreNames.Change the time thatSite Recovery Managerwaits before removing thesnap-prefix applied to recovered datastore names. The default value is 0 seconds.xxEnter a new value in thestorageProvider.fixRecoveredDatastoreNamesDelaySectext box.Change the time interval between SMP-FT VM datastore compliance checks. The default value is 300 seconds.Enter a new value in thestorageProvider.ftVmComplianceCheckIntervaltext box.Delay host scans during testing and recovery. The default value is 0 seconds.SRAs can send responses toSite Recovery Managerbefore a promoted storage device on the recovery site is available to theESXihosts. WhenSite Recovery Managerreceives a response from an SRA, it rescans the storage devices. If the storage devices are not fully available yet,ESXiServer does not detect them andSite Recovery Managerdoes not find the replicated devices when it rescans. Datastores are not created and recovered virtual machines cannot be found. To delay the start of storage rescans until they are available on theESXihosts, enter a new value in thestorageProvider.hostRescanDelaySectext box.Only change this value if you experience problems with unavailable datastores.Repeat host scans during testing and recovery. The default value is 1.Enter a new value in thestorageProvider.hostRescanRepeatCnttext box. Some storage arrays require more than one rescan, for example to discover the snapshots of failed-over LUNs. In previous releases, you might have used thestorageProvider.hostRescanRepeatCntparameter to introduce a delay in recoveries. Use thestorageProvider.hostRescanDelaySecparameter instead.Change the interval thatSite Recovery Managerwaits for each HBA rescan to complete. The default value is 300 seconds.Enter a new value in thestorageProvider.hostRescanTimeoutSectext box.Set the number of times thatSite Recovery Managerattempts to resignature a VMFS volume. The default value is 1.Enter a new value in thestorageProvider.resignatureFailureRetryCounttext box.Set a timeout for resignaturing a VMFS volume. The default value is 900 seconds.Enter a new value in thestorageProvider.resignatureTimeoutSectext box. If you change thestorageProvider.hostRescanTimeoutSecsetting, increase thestorageProvider.resignatureTimeoutSecsetting to the same timeout that you use forstorageProvider.hostRescanTimeoutSec.Identify VMX file paths thatSite Recovery Managershould not consider as potential VMX file candidates after Storage vMotion. The default value is .snapshot,Enter a comma-separated list of strings in thestorageProvider.storageVmotionVmxFilePathsToSkiptext box to identify VMX file paths to ignore after Storage vMotion.Site Recovery Managerdoes not consider VMX file paths that contain one or more of these strings as potential candidate VMX files after Storage vMotion.Set the timeout in seconds for local stretched devices to be matched to the corresponding remote stretched devices. The default is 300 seconds.Enter the new value in thestorageProvider.stretchedDevicesMatchTimeouttext box.Set the number of parallel xVC-vMotion requests per host. This limit applies to both source and target hosts. The default value is 2.Enter the new value in thestorageProvider.vmMigrationLimitPerHosttext box.Set the timeout in seconds to wait for newly discovered datastores to become accessible. The default value is 60 seconds.Enter the new value in thestorageProvider.waitForAccessibleDatastoreTimeoutSectext box.SetSite Recovery Managerto wait to discover datastores after recovery. The default value is false.Move the slider to change the value ofstorageProvider.waitForDeviceRediscoveryto true.SetSite Recovery Managerto wait to discover datastores after failover. The default value is true.Move the slider to change the value ofstorageProvider.waitForDeviceRediscoveryAfterPrepareFailoverto false.Set the timeout in seconds to wait for the Virtual Center to report newly discovered datastores. The default value is 30 seconds.Enter the new value in thestorageProvider.waitForRecoveredDatastoreTimeoutSectext box.Set the time interval in seconds that Site Recovery Manager waits for VMFS volumes to become mounted. The default value is 30 seconds.Enter the new value in thestorageProvider.waitForVmfsVolumesMountedStateTimeoutSectext box.
