This release includes the following:

• Tanzu Application Service has been renamed to Tanzu Platform for Cloud Foundry, one of the two runtimes available as part of Tanzu Platform.
  • Tanzu Platform for Cloud Foundry v10.0 is the next major version to follow Tanzu Application Service v6.0
  • Product documentation for v6.0 and earlier versions will continue to use the previous name, Tanzu Application Service.
• Tanzu Platform hub can monitor Tanzu Platform for Cloud Foundry foundations and hosted applications.
  • Attach multiple Tanzu Platform for Cloud Foundry foundations to Tanzu Platform hub as described in Install the Tanzu Platform hub collector in Tanzu Operations Manager
  • Install the CF Hub Collector tile to collect information from Tanzu Platform for Cloud Foundry objects of type Application, ProcessInstance, ServiceInstance, BoshVM, Buildpack, Organization, Space, Deployment, Tile, Foundation, and other basic entity types.
  • Monitor Spring apps running on Tanzu Platform for Cloud Foundry as described in Managing your applications in Tanzu Platform.
• OpenTelemetry Collector:
  • Tanzu Platform for Cloud Foundry integration with the open-source OpenTelemetry (Otel) Collector is fully supported.
  • The OTel collector can forward logs and traces, in addition to previously-supported metrics, as described in Configuring the OpenTelemetry Collector.
  • Platform operators can tie OTel exporters to external processors and pipelines, enabling new ways of using the OTel Collector in Tanzu Platform for Cloud Foundry.
  • The Enable experimental OpenTelemetry Collector features (beta) checkbox in the Tanzu Platform for Cloud Foundry tile > System Logging pane enables additional, unsupported OTel functionality.
  • The OpenTelemetry Collector Secrets (beta) form lets you specify secrets to include in your OTel configuration, to have them stored securely and interpolated back into the configuration when needed.
• Rolling and canary deployments:
  • A --strategy rolling option for cf push updates apps without downtime and without requiring a blue-green deployment. See Rolling Deployments.
  • A --strategy canary option for cf push pushes a single instance of a new app version to check viability, for example before a rolling deployment. See Canary Deployments.
• Tanzu Platform for Cloud Foundry upgrade process halts if it detects workloads running on cflinuxfs3; see Breaking Changes.
• The Cloud Controller can use a Puma webserver (experimental) to host its API, instead of the default Thin webserver, for increased performance and scalability.
  • When using Puma, the Cloud Controller outputs Puma-specific metrics for its Puma worker nodes, listed under Cloud Controller metrics on the Cloud Foundry component metrics page.
• When determining optimal app scaling, Autoscaler accounts for a wider range of app start times, to avoid excessive scaling of slow-starting apps.
• In Tanzu Platform for Cloud Foundry tile Networking pane, new Query parameter logging in Gorouter access logs option includes Gorouter request metrics as described in Troubleshooting Router Error Responses.
• Cloud Controller outputs database connection metrics, listed under Cloud Controller metrics on the Cloud Foundry component metrics page.
• metric-registrar component uses syslog binding cache, reducing load on Cloud Controller.
• Spring apps built with the Java buildpack can use Class Data Sharing to start faster and use less memory.
• The NATS server VM type defaults to medium, not micro.
• Isolation Segment: Isolation Segment routers can send traffic to apps running in other Isolation Segments, while retaining network isolation from the main Tanzu Platform for Cloud Foundry routers.
• Ops Manager: The Ops Manager Apply Changes process and Ops Manager / BOSH upgrades take less time because they use pre-compiled BOSH CPI and Ruby versions.
• Ops Manager: You can rotate the SAML identity certificate for the BOSH UAA, .properties.saml_service_provider_cert, from the Ops Manager > Certificates tab.
• Documentation:
  • Reorganized Release Notes and added Security Fixes section to list CVEs addressed.
  • Added sidecar process tutorial View and debug processes running in the app container via HTTP.

Known Issues

The following issues are known in this release of Tanzu Platform for Cloud Foundry:

• Contains a bug that causes intermittent TCP connectivity issues between Tanzu Platform for Cloud Foundry and tiles that use routing release 0.301.0 or earlier, such as Tanzu for MySQL on Cloud Foundry v3.3.0 and earlier, and Redis for Tanzu Application Service v3.5.0 and earlier. The following issues have been fixed in this release of Tanzu Platform for Cloud Foundry:
