Deploying Tanzu Platform for Cloud Foundry to VCF

Use these instructions for installing Tanzu Platform for Cloud Foundry to VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF).

VCF is the hybrid cloud platform for managing VMs and orchestrating containers. You can install and configure Tanzu Operations Manager and (Tanzu Platform for Cloud Foundry) after launching the vSphere client through VCF.

Prerequisites

Before you deploy Tanzu Platform for Cloud Foundry on VCF:

  • Provision a VI workload domain on a Software Defined Data Center (SDDC). See About VI Workload Domains.
  • Download Tanzu Operations Manager for vSphere from Broadcom Support.
  • Download Tanzu Platform for Cloud Foundry from Broadcom Support.
  • Install the govc CLI to your local workstation or jump host. See govmomi on GitHub.

Prepare to deploy Tanzu Platform for Cloud Foundry to VCF

To prepare VCF before you install Tanzu Platform for Cloud Foundry:

Collect your vCenter information:

  1. In SDDC Manager, select Workload Domains.

    The SDDC Manager dashboard collects vCenter information.

  2. Select the VI domain where you want to install Tanzu Operations Manager and Tanzu Platform for Cloud Foundry.

    The SDDC Manager dashboard shows the Workload Domains pane is active.

  3. Select the cluster where you want to install Tanzu Operations Manager and Tanzu Platform for Cloud Foundry.

    In the SDDC Manager dashboard, the selected domain, nsxt-vi, is active.

  4. From the Actions menu, select Open in vSphere Client.

    In the SDDC Manager dashboard, the selected cluster, vi-cluster1, is active. The Actions menu is expanded.

If you are using NSX-T, select Workload Domains and select the Summary tab. Record the IP address listed for NSX Manager IP Address.
