Operational Verification of vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager

Verify the authentication and service health of vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager in
VMware Cloud Foundation
. Verify the communication of vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager to all necessary vCenter Server instances and to the VMware Customer Connect software repository.

Verify the Authentication in vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager by Using a Local System Account

Verify that vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager is online and accessible by authenticating with the built-in
vcfadmin@local
 account.
Expected Outcome
You can successfully authenticate to vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager by using the
vcfadmin@local
 account and you have visibility of all the menu items.
  1. Log in to the vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager at
    https://<vrealize_suite_lifecycle_manager_fqdn>
     as
    vcfadmin@local
     .
  2. Verify that you can browse the user interface.

  • Ensure that the vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager appliance is powered on and the correct login credentials are used.
  • Ensure that all the vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager services are running.
  • Ensure that the vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager appliance is configured to use the correct NTP server, and that the system time is synchronized.

Verify the Authentication to vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager by Using an Active Directory User Account

If you have integrated vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager with Active Directory, verify that the clustered Workspace ONE Access instance has access to Active Directory and you can authenticate to vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager by using an Active Directory account from the Active Directory group.
Expected Outcome
You can successfully authenticate to vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager by using a user account from the Active Directory group and you have the required access to perform tasks according to the configured permissions.
  1. Open the vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager user interface at
    https://<vrealize_suite_lifecycle_manager_fqdn>
    .
  2. On the login page, from the drop-down menu, select
    Identity manager user
     and click
    Login with Identity Manager
    .
  3. On the
    Workspace ONE
     page, log in to vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager by using the user account in Active Directory.
  4. After the successful login, verify that you see the My services page of vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager and can open its sub-pages.
If you encounter issues while performing this procedure, use the following troubleshooting tips:

  • Ensure that there is network connectivity between the Active Directory infrastructure and the Workspace ONE Access cluster.
  • Ensure that Workspace ONE Access can synchronize the Active Directory user group.
  • Ensure that the user account is a member of the enterprise group assigned with the correct role.
  • Ensure that the user account is an active account in Active Directory and is not locked.

Verify the Authentication to vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager by Using the Local Root Account

Verify that you can authenticate to vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager by using the built-in
root
 account and that the vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager services are running.

You can successfully authenticate to vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager by using the

 account and all services are running.
  1. Log in to the vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager by using a Secure Shell (SSH) client as
    root

  2. Verify the status of vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager services by running the commands.

     command.

Verify the Status of vCenter Server Data Collection

Verify that vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager can communicate with and collect data from the vCenter Server instances.
Expected Outcome
You can successfully collect data from each vCenter Server in each environment.
  1. Log in to the vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager at
    https://<vrealize_suite_lifecycle_manager_fqdn>
     as
    vcfadmin@local
    .
  2. On the
    My services
     page, click
    Lifecycle operations
    .
  3. In the left pane, click
    Data centers
    .
  4. On the
    Data centers
     page, for each vCenter Server instance in each data center, click the
    Refresh data collection
     icon.
    A data collection request is submitted.
  5. Navigate to the
    Requests
     page and verify that the data collection request is
    Successful
    .

  • Ensure that the correct host name is listed for each vCenter Server instance.
  • Ensure that the correct user name and password for each vCenter Server is configured.
  • Ensure that the correct vCenter Server type is selected for each vCenter Server instance.
  • Ensure that the vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager appliance can successfully ping each vCenter Server host name.
