A Backing service is any service that apps consume over the network as part of normal operation. Examples are data stores, messaging and queueing systems, SMTP services for outbound email, and caching systems. Each distinct backing service is a resource that you can bind or unbind to applications.
To view the available backing services, select Applications > Backing Services in the left navigation pane.
The datagrid includes information such as the service name, readiness status, service type, source type, application space, number of bound apps, creation date, binding type and description.
The backing services are sourced from Cloud Foundry and Kubernetes, so you can see the following:
- Cloud Foundry services
- Bitnami services for Kubernetes
- Pre-provisioned services
This view is available in Projects: All and in specific Projects. If you click on the link for a service or Space, you go to the corresponding details page and the Project is changed to the Project that the service or Space is in.
