About Tanzu-provided resources

Last Updated February 19, 2025

To make it easier for you to get started with Kubernetes Spaces, Tanzu provides ready-to-use resources that you can use with minimal modification to quickly deploy an application.

These resources are designed to support the Tanzu Where for Dinner reference app, but you can use them with your own applications too.

Tanzu-provided resources are great examples to learn from, both to understand how the platform works and for examples of best practices when creating your own resources. You can think of these resources as templates to make curating Kubernetes Spaces easier.

The resources are automatically created in every new project. You can use the resources as they are or customize them by downloading the resources, by using the Tanzu Platform UI or Tanzu CLI, and then applying the resources with different names. The provided resources include Profiles, Traits, Availability Targets, and Cluster Groups. Tanzu-provided resources have the Tanzu Provided badge in the Tanzu Platform UI.

Tanzu manages and updates Tanzu-provided resources. These resources are updated automatically when enhancements become available. You can preserve specific versions of these resources by cloning them in your environment.

To learn about Tanzu-provided resources in action, see the Getting Started section where they are used to deploy the Where for Dinner application.
